The World at My Feet
Ivan is just back from lots of hard, sweaty work in the engine room of Chantey, the vintage yacht we are doing up in Mexico (more pics coming soon on the Chantey page.) I'm so excited because he has made good progress this trip and maybe towards the end of next trip we'll be able to get her into the water. It's not sailing round the world yet but it's another tide nearer!
While he was away I was inspired to write about some of our Mexican adventures and our dreams for the future. Then I found a travel-writing competition on the subject 'The World at My Feet.' This is what Chantey represents for us. We've both worked hard all our lives, our children are grown up, our grandchildren are enchanting and I am ready to take a break from full-time work. But we're not ready for knitting and pottering in the garden yet! We see this as a new chapter in our lives, the chance to travel, explore, have adventures and see as much of the world as we can from the deck of a yacht. We see a world of tropical islands, fascinating people and amazing wildlife beckoning to us, not to mention the peace and liberation of sailing across the seven seas. I can stand on the decks of Chantey, even in the dry dock, and see this before me.
Where do you stand to see the world at your feet? And what world do you see? What's the dream you are still waiting to live?
