Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector PTTLS

About PTTLS

Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTTLS) is an introductory award for anyone entering teaching in Lifelong Learning including Further Education and any Skills Funding Agency (SFA) funded teaching or training. It is a good preparation for new teachers/trainers, providing the minimum statutory standard for all those entering the teaching profession. It is also an entry level qualification for experienced trainers/teachers who do not hold a current qualification.

It is the first unit of the Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTTLS), which is the mandatory qualification for all Associate Teachers delivering SFA funded courses; and provides progression to the DTTLS award.

Learners achieving the PTTLS Award will gain a threshold Licence to Practice, which then needs to be converted into either the Certificate or Diploma to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector within five years. You will also need to join the Institute for Learning (IfL) to hold the licence.
